How are the Bruins so good with big name players missing?

The answer to your question is also the biggest plague in hockey. The Bruins are BORING !!!!!

Take a look at the teams that have enjoyed prolonged success over the past decade or so, and see what style of game they play. New Jersey and Detroit might be the two most successful teams, and both play a boring defense-oriented trap game. I believe Scotty Bowman called it a "left wing lock" in Detroit, but it's still a basic trap ideology. The system is boring to watch, but it works. Minnesota turned its team around by hiring the man who made the trap famous in New Jersey. Now look at how good the Wild are. The Bruins have shown that a system can sometimes overcome a lack of talent. They'll remain respectable, but they won't have enough to go deep into the playoffs.
Good for the Bruins. The trap is awful to watch, but at least they're heading into the post season.

Tim Thomas Keeps them in the game.

Very solid goalie that gets no or very little recognition.

To the moron who talked about Philly, look at our injuries we are near the top of the league in man games lost and we still have played well in the toughest division in hockey. But, to answer the question the Bruins win because of a very good system, Thomas have been excellent and they still have Chara and Kessel and some real talented young guys stepping up.
